What is rib flare?

Rib flare is a condition where the lower ribs extend outward, resulting in a widened rib cage appearance. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including poor posture, weak abdominal muscles, or underlying medical conditions such as scoliosis or thoracic kyphosis.

Symptoms of rib flare may include back pain, difficulty breathing deeply, or discomfort when lying on one's side. Treatment may involve physical therapy to improve posture and strengthen the abdominal muscles, as well as exercises to stretch and relax the muscles around the ribcage. Some individuals may benefit from wearing a brace or undergoing surgery to correct severe cases of rib flare.
